In a Timeless Sweet Land

This painting comes from a place of memory and gentle longing. It reflects the winter holidays I spent in Lalmonirhat with my family—a time of warmth, laughter, and simple pleasures. In the bottom right corner, I placed myself among my cousins and my mother, sharing a meal, teasing one another, and inhabiting the carefree joy that childhood offers. The smaller images scattered around the canvas capture fragments of daily life, little gestures, and moments that now feel like tiny treasures of the past.
While rooted in personal memory, this work quietly reaches outward. I was thinking about children who have lost the safety and joy of home—climate migrants, displaced families, those whose childhoods are interrupted by forces beyond their control. The painting is a gentle reminder that every child deserves space to play, laugh, and simply be, and that remembering the sweetness of these moments can guide us toward empathy and care for others.
In A Timeless Sweet Land is both a memory and a meditation—a space where innocence, humor, and the warmth of family coexist, while inviting reflection on what it means to hold childhood lightly and generously, in our own lives and for those whose worlds are unsettled.
